Last week, the Women’s Network met in Washington, D.C., and lobbied Senators and Representatives on Capitol Hill.
They lobbied for paid sick leave, which would give every worker the ability to stay home and get better when they or a loved one becomes ill, as well as for the Family and Medical Insurance Leave (FAMILY) Act, which would provide up to 12 weeks of paid leave each year to qualifying workers for the birth or adoption of a new child, the serious illness of an immediate family member, or a worker’s own medical condition.
They were joined at their meeting by special guest Senator Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin who talked with all of them about the legislative process and gave them useful tips on how to effectively lobby their Representatives.
