Free online Workforce Essential Courses are available to help UFCW members succeed in the workforce.
These courses, which are made available through the UFCW’s education benefits, were designed to help UFCW members improve and expand their skills. Courses include:
Money Essentials: This course is designed to help students take back control of their financial situation. Through real-life scenarios, students will learn the money management skills necessary to make smart financial decisions. From creating a budget and setting financial goals, to obtaining credit and applying for loans, this course will give students the necessary tools for a financially stable future.
Work Essentials: This course is designed to help students transition into and succeed in today’s workforce. From writing a good resume to making a good impression during an interview, students will be equipped with the resources they need to find their dream job. The course then walks students through important skills needed to keep that dream job, such as problem solving, professionalism, and good communication.
Computer Essentials: This course begins by teaching students the basic skills they need to navigate a computer and the internet, such as keyboarding, opening and closing windows, scrolling, and navigating menus. It then moves on to more advanced skills such as communication, word processing, and digital citizenship. Upon completion, students will have obtained the core skills they need to be confident computer-based test takers and more importantly, successful employees.
All three courses end with final assessments. Upon passing the final assessments, students can download Certificates of Achievement to show employers they have mastered the skills acquired from these courses.
Capacity for these programs is limited and spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-saved basis.
