Thank You for Giving Back During the Holiday Season

UFCW members and locals across the country came together last month to help make the holidays a little brighter for hard-working families in their communities.

UFCW Local 227 in Louisville, Ky., filled 1,500 bags of food for local families in need. Members and staff from RWDSU / UFCW Local 338 volunteered for a day of service in Wantagh, N.Y., to benefit the John Theissen Children’s Foundation by sorting toys for children and dropping them off at hospitals and other locations. UFCW Local 951 gave away Visa gift cards ranging from $100 to $500 to members to show appreciation for their hard work during the holidays, and UFCW Local 655 hosted a holiday toy drive.

We know these are just some of the many examples of UFCW locals and members stepping up to help those in need.

Thank you to all of our many members and locals who generously gave back during the holidays. We are so grateful for all you do to support hard-working families and keep your communities strong.

UFCW Continues Support of America’s Largest Food Drive in 2020

Next year, the UFCW will once again partner with the National Association of Letter Carriers to sponsor the 28th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive—the largest, single-day food drive in the country, happening in more than 10,000 cities and towns nationwide.

This year, our union helped to collect millions of pounds of union-made, non-perishable food for local food banks. Next year, we are encouraging all UFCW locals and their members to make Stamp Out Hunger an even bigger success by collecting unopened, non-perishable food and placing in a bag next to their mailbox before their letter carrier delivers their mail on Saturday, May 9, 2020.

With the Stamp Out Hunger campaign, we can help fully restock food banks across the country that are in need of supplies. This is an opportunity for us to show the communities we serve how we can work together to help the millions of Americans who are struggling in poverty and facing food insecurity every day.

The Communications Department will be reaching out to locals early next year regarding this important campaign. Together, we can continue to make a positive difference in the lives of millions of American families who are struggling to put food on the table.
