Over 150 workers at TC Transcontinental in Brooklyn, N.Y., joined UFCW Local 342 on May 1. TC Transcontinental is a leader in flexible packaging in the United States, Canada, and Latin America, and the workers produce flexographic printing, as well as the lamination of plastic film and covering.
These workers joined our union family because they were concerned about insufficient benefits and a lack of representation from their previous labor union. The campaign to organize these workers included identifying leaders among the workers to create an organizing committee and talking about the benefits of unionizing with the UFCW.
“An organizing win isn’t a victory for the union, it is a victory for the workers who choose to better their lives and their families’ lives by voting ‘union yes,’” said UFCW Local 342 President Deana Abondolo. “These workers have shown a level of dedication and perseverance to fight for a better life and we are happy to help get them there.”
