Health care workers at Lourdes Counseling Center in Richland, Wash., stood together for a better life by joining UFCW Local 21 on Dec. 19.
The 37 workers joined UFCW Local 21 because they were concerned about low wages, insufficient staffing levels and workplace safety issues. Lourdes Counseling Center provides a full range of behavioral health services for adults, adolescents, children, families and groups in Richland.
“I’m so glad to see people come together and work towards a better work environment,” said Danielle Wadlow, a mental health counselor at Lourdes Counseling Center. “My hope is that being a part of a union will realign Lourdes employees with our values and need for a safer workplace, and enable us to once again provide the quality service that our patients and community deserve.”
