Helping our union family grow starts with strong investments in our locals and one UFCW International program is already making a big difference. In 2015, we launched the Organizing Incentive Program to help locals offset their costs and put the money saved back into new or existing organizing campaigns.
The Organizing Incentive Program helps locals save money by waiving per capita fees and disbursing the money saved back to locals. During its first year in 2015, the program saved locals nearly $100,000. Just three years later in 2018, the program saved more than $600,000 for over 35 locals across the country. Since it was launched, the Organizing Incentive Program has saved locals a total of $1.4 million, helping to put more money back into organizing campaigns that help to keep our union family strong and growing.
It’s easy to participate in the program. Most units organized and then contracted are eligible for a per capita fee incentive subsidy, and the amount of money disbursed is determined by the size of the unit organized. To participate, all a local needs to do is contact their Regional Director for the specifics of the program.
“Our local has participated in this program since it was created, and it has helped us recoup some of the money spent during various organizing campaigns,” said UFCW Local 312 President Robert LaSalle. “I encourage other locals to take advantage of this opportunity.”
