On May 5, workers at Viroqua Food Co-op in Viroqua, Wis., voted to join UFCW Local 1473.
Concern about scheduling, job postings, and wages motivated the over 45 workers to stand together for a better workplace. They approached UFCW Local 1473 a few months ago about these issues and their interest in joining our union family.
“We welcome the opportunity to bargain on behalf of the employees of Viroqua Food Co-op,” said UFCW Local 1473 President John Eiden. “Justin Benzschawel and Jake Bailey worked closely with the employees to build an understanding of the process. While we’re disappointed the Viroqua Food Co-op management appears to desire an adversarial relationship at this point, the local is committed to developing a productive relationship that benefits all parties.”
