Members of UFCW Local 880 who work at the Terrasana cannabis dispensary in Garfield Heights, Ohio, ratified a first union contract on Jan. 12.
The 20 workers, who are employed as clerks and cashiers, joined our union last June because they wanted to improve their wages and benefits. The three-year agreement addresses those issues and includes annual pay increases and a grievance procedure.
“Every first contract is a milestone not just for the workers who bargained it, but for every worker in this industry watching and wondering if a union is possible for them,” said UFCW Local 880 President Miles Anderson. “The workers at Terrasana proved it is. The cannabis industry is growing fast, and the workers driving that growth deserve real wages, real benefits and real job security. Our members at Terrasana now have all of that, and we’re proud to welcome them into the UFCW family.”
