Workers at the Dufferin Mall H&M store in Toronto, Canada, voted to join UFCW Local 1006A on Oct. 9. The 25 workers, who made the unanimous decision to join our union, are employed as sales advisors.

UFCW Local 1006A worked with UNI Global Union, which was supportive in this organizing effort, to petition H&M to respect the rights of these workers to join a union. The online vote was conducted by the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
“The experience from the start until now has been just filled with support from the union, encouragement and the goal of creating a better workplace future for us,” said Brandy, who works as a sales advisor at the store.
“Union representation empowers workers, transforms workplaces, and ensures fairness for all,” said UFCW Local 1006A President Wayne Hanley. “This victory is a testament to the determination, enthusiasm, and commitment of H&M workers. We’re excited to congratulate our newest members on their achievement. Maintaining this same level of unity and participation is vital as we begin the process of achieving a fair first contract.”
“We are proud to help retail workers achieve fairness, respect and dignity at work,” said UFCW Local 1006A Director of Organizing Lesley Prince. “Through UFCW 1006A representation, workers gain protection and a voice at work. We look forward to working with our members to change their workplaces and lives for the better.”
