On May 26, UFCW International President Milton Jones addressed the 4th Congress of CCOO Servicios in Barcelona, Spain, and signed a mutual collaboration agreement to expand and strengthen trade union rights in both countries.

In his recorded address, Jones spoke about role CCOO Servicios played in helping the UFCW produce organizing victories and strong contracts for Zara workers in the United States. RWDSU President Stuart Applebaum, who serves as the Global President of UNI Commerce, also played a significant role in establishing our union’s initial relationship with Zara and its parent company Inditex.
“The UFCW wishes to further our work with your union to expand and strengthen the rights of workers employed by North American multinational companies operating in your country, as well as counting on your good support regarding Spanish enterprises operating in North America,” said Jones.
“This historic agreement… commits both of our organizations to the defense of democracy and social justice. This is crucial, given the troubling rise of anti-union, anti-worker, anti-immigrant and right-wing authoritarianism, enabled by the current Trump administration in the United States. Both our organizations must join ranks as never before.”
