On April 2, the UFCW issued a statement of support in response to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) final ruling regarding worker representation during OSHA inspections. The final ruling confirms that employees have the right to authorize a qualified representative, such as a union representative, to accompany OSHA compliance officers during an inspection of their workplace.
“OSHA’s finalized ruling underscores what our members have known for years: workers deserve a voice on the job, especially when it comes to their safety and workplace inspections,” said UFCW International President Marc Perrone in a statement. “Allowing workers to choose their own advocate, such as a union representative with valuable expertise, balances out critical regulation that has been shifted to favor employers for far too long.”
“The UFCW applauds OSHA for finalizing this ruling and reaffirming that workers have the right to choose their own qualified representation during workplace inspections.”
