Over 300 members of UFCW Local 152 who work at ShopRite stores in Drexeline and Brookhaven, Pa., ratified a new contract on Dec. 20 that strengthens wages and benefits.
The four-year contract, which was ratified by an overwhelming margin, includes retroactive across-the-board wage increases for all members at top of scale and additional increases each year for the life of the contract. The contract also includes substantial market adjustments to hourly wage rates for members with classified positions and members on the night crew will receive an additional $1.00 per hour above their rate. All eligible full-time employees will receive significant yearly increases in their 401(k) plans, giving members more money to use in their retirement.
Under the new contract, Shop Stewards or Union Representatives will now have the opportunity to conduct new member orientations so that new members can learn about the union difference and strengthen their connection to UFCW Local 152. In addition, the new contract provides members with the opportunity to participate in supplemental benefit programs offered by the local, such as voluntary additional life insurance, disability, and accident or sickness benefits.
Members of the Negotiating Committee included Director of Collective Bargaining Dan Ross; Union Representative Ed Fuller; and Shop Stewards Mike Didonato and Edwin Santiago.
