On March 12, about 50 UFCW Local 152 members at Spring Oak of Berlin assisted living facility in Berlin, N.J., ratified a new contract that raises wages and improves benefits. These members are employed as certified medical assistants, certified nursing assistants, activity aides, cooks, dietary aides, and in the maintenance and housekeeping divisions.
The new three-year agreement provides wage increases each year for the life of the contract. In addition to these wage increases, members with more than eight years of service will receive a “longevity raise” in 2022 and 2023. The contract also includes increases to paid time off and sick time for all employees to comply with New Jersey Earned Sick Leave. Finally, in addition to the shop steward position, the new contract allows the union representative for Spring Oak of Berlin to attend new hire orientations, which presents a great opportunity for these members to learn more about UFCW Local 152 and the benefits of their union contract.
Members of the Negotiating Committee included Director of Organizing Chad Brooks; Director of Field Services Peggy Kelly; Union Representative Pete White; Shop Steward Lloyd Anglin; and member Cassandra Williams.
