Janitorial workers at Diamond Property Services in Toronto, Canada, joined UFCW Local 1006A on Dec. 10.
These workers made the decision to join UFCW Local 1006A out of concerns about job security, wages, benefits and other issues. The online vote was held by the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
“We are thrilled to welcome our newest members from Diamond Property Services to our union family,” said UFCW Local 1006A President Wayne Hanley. “We look forward to supporting our members as we begin the process of negotiating and securing a first contract.”
“This group of workers demonstrated tremendous unity and determination in seeking and achieving union representation,” said UFCW Local 1006A Director Organizing Lesley Prince.
UFCW Local 1006A also represents Diamond Property Services security guards at another location.
