Community-based organizers in Ontario, Canada, who work for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) voted to join UFCW Local 102 on Oct. 7.

ACORN is a global organization of members who come together to fight back against landlords and corporations to build healthier, equitable communities, and the new members run community-based chapters in London, Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa, Peel Region and other municipalities across Ontario.
These workers are skilled, experienced and creative organizers, and UFCW Canada looks forward to building on the Ontario victory by helping ACORN workers unionize across Canada.
In addition to the new members at ACORN, UFCW Canada represents many workers in the not-for-profit, NGO and community-based sectors, including the Broadbent Institute, the Scarborough Campus Students Union, the federal New Democratic Party, Interval House, Brandon Housing First and Toronto Community Hostels.
