Over 12,000 members of UFCW Local 1059 who work at 83 Kroger stores across Ohio ratified a new contract on August 22.

The four-year contract includes the following provisions:
- No increases in health care premiums.
- Raises moved up by six months earlier each year.
- Improved scheduling language.
- The creation of a new classified position and a new premium position.
“This contract wouldn’t have been possible without solidarity,” said Gene Smith, who works at one of the Kroger stores in Ohio and served as a member of the negotiating committee. “By standing together, we’ve achieved an agreement that that moves Kroger workers forward in a meaningful way.”
