Members of UFCW Local 1400 who work at the Prairie Pride Natural Foods poultry production facility in the city of Saskatoon in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan recently ratified a new contract. The more than 200 members produce fresh and frozen chicken products for markets across Western Canada.
Key highlights of the agreement include a substantial initial wage increase of approximately 4.5 percent upon ratification, followed by annual wage increases of 2.75 percent, 3 percent, 3 percent, and 3.25 percent over the term of the five-year contract. In addition to wage increases, the new agreement boosts both night shift and Sunday premiums, adds an extra sick day per year, and enhances meal and footwear allowances to better support members on the job.
