In 2024, the UFCW continued its commitment to safeguarding the well-being of our members at the local level by offering a range of health and safety training sessions. These initiatives were led by the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Office, which provided essential lifesaving skills training that included first aid techniques, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and the use of automated external defibrillators.
The OSH Office also offered workplace violence prevention training sessions to locals. These training sessions were designed to help members mitigate potential threats both proactively and efficiently and include how to recognize the warning signs of workplace violence, de-escalation techniques, and appropriate response procedures.
In addition, the OSH Office issued guidelines for locals about how to protect our members in cold work environments and from extreme heat.
