UFCW Responds to Footage of Deadly Police Beating of Tyre Nichols

On Jan. 27, the UFCW issued a statement in response to the release of the video footage of the deadly police beating of Tyre Nichols in Memphis, Tenn.

“The videos released today of the deadly police beating of Tyre Nichols in Memphis are shocking, disgusting, and should outrage every American,” said UFCW International President Marc Perrone in a statement.

“For too long we have seen those entrusted to protect us use vicious force, and this is another horrific example that we must witness,” Perrone added. “This madness must end. The death of Tyre Nichols was an act of brutal violence. Not only should the police officers be held accountable, it must serve as the final wake-up call that our policing must change before another life is lost. Words alone cannot do justice or provide enough sympathy to the family of Tyre Nichols, who must live with the loss and pain of this evil and senseless act.”
