The month of March marks Women’s History Month and provides us with an opportunity to highlight the significant contributions women have made to society as a whole and the labor movement. Women’s History Month has been observed annually during the month of March in the United States since 1987 and encompasses International Women’s Day, which was observed on March 8.
Throughout this month, the UFCW will pay tribute to women who dedicated their lives to achieving equal rights for all workers in the workplace and in society. We will also highlight how labor unions have benefited women in terms of pay and equity in the workplace and pay tribute to women who continue to fight for the right to stand together for equal pay for equal work, fair scheduling, affordable and high-quality childcare, and paid maternity and sick leave.
