This month, the UFCW’s Communications Department is kicking off its summer webinar series with trainings that are designed to help locals involved in negotiations this year.
With this new webinar series, locals can learn about the tools and techniques they need to communicate effectively with key audiences, including members and customers. The first webinar in the series will focus on overall best practices for communications during negotiations and will include an overview of the strategy used during the Stop & Shop work stoppage. The series will also provide locals with the skills needed to strengthen membership data collection and maintenance, design easy to make flyers and graphics, and tell member-driven stories with video and photos on social media and other platforms.
Last summer, the Communications Department hosted a summer skills series that local communicators found helpful and they gave the department feedback on how we could further develop these webinars.
“This summer, we’re putting together more case studies and ways locals can apply these tools to negotiations immediately,” said Director of Communications Erikka Knuti. “If you have a contract expiring in the next six to 12 months, you won’t want to miss these trainings.”
The webinar schedule is as follows:
• Wednesday, June 12: Communications Best Practices for Negotiations
• Wednesday, June 26: Membership Data – How to collect and maintain clean member data
• Wednesday, July 10: Canva – Design overview, flyer and social media graphic best practices and examples
• Wednesday, July 24: iPhoneography – Creating member-driven video and photo content for social media and beyond
All the webinars will be held at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time. If you have any questions or want to register for the webinars, contact Erin Ward in the UFCW’s Communications Department at eward@ufcw.org.
