On March 21, 36 members of ICWUC/UFCW Local 94C who work at SBM Management Services in Elkton, Virginia, ratified their first union contract by an overwhelming margin. SBM Management Services is a subcontractor at the Merck plant in the area, and the workers clean many parts of the facility, as well as the laboratory glassware.
The four-year agreement raises wages, on average, by 3.5 percent per year. The new agreement also outlines overtime distribution, grants bidding and bumping rights, and provides successor language in this very fluid world of subcontracting at one of our core employers.
