Local 371 Foxwoods Resort Casino Workers Ratify New Contract

On June 16, nearly 300 Local 371 members employed at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., ratified their second contract. The four-year agreement secures their affordable health benefits, and includes yearly raises and wage differentials of up to $20 per shift for many employees. The new contract also contains strong workplace safety language, reduces the number of casual employees, and improves their retirement benefits.

“Our members at Foxwoods fought hard to join our union beginning in 2008, and in ratifying their second contract, they are seeing that persistence pays off,” said UFCW Local 371 President Thomas A. Wilkinson. “We are proud to not only have increased the starting rates for our members by nearly $3.00 per hour and secured guaranteed wage increases, but also preserved our member’s health benefits, improved retirement benefits, and protected full-time jobs.”
