On Jan. 26, nearly 130 members of UFCW Local 152 who work at United Methodist Communities at Bristol Glen, an assisted living facility in Newton, N.J., ratified their first contract. The workers joined UFCW Local 152 last September because they wanted a voice in the workplace. UFCW Local 152 represents two other assisted living facilities in the area.
The new three-year contract includes wage increases and improves health care coverage for the workers. The contract also includes clothing allowances and shift differentials.
