Every year in February, the UFCW joins our allies and communities in celebrating Black History Month.
During Black History Month, we pay tribute to civil rights leaders and other prominent individuals in the African American community and all they have done to advance equality and justice. Not only do we remember the past and how far we have come, but we look to the present, as well, to highlight those who are actively fighting for civil and labor rights and a better life for all.
This year, the theme of the UFCW International Black History Month program is “freedom.” We are asking members and staff to let us know what freedom means them. Please help us celebrate this important month by urging members to submit their thoughts to submissions@ufcw.org. We would also love to highlight the African American members in our union family as much as possible, so please send any profiles or photos, as well.
