Last week, Making Change at Walmart (MCAW) responded to a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) ruling concerning Walmart workers who were disciplined by management after participating in a sit-down strike in Richmond, Calif., in November of 2012.
“We are pleased that once again, the law is on the side of Walmart workers,” said Jess Levin, communications director for MCAW. “The recent NLRB decision to recognize that this sit-down strike by Walmart workers was lawful on a retail sales floor sets an important precedent: Retail workers have rights, too. This favorable ruling gives us the valuable opportunity to show Walmart workers that they have the right to stand up for themselves, to use their voices, to earn a better life, and to work to change Walmart into a more responsible employer.”
