Workers at Dubois Chemicals in Chicago, Ill., voted unanimously to join the International Chemical Workers Council of the UFCW on August 27, 2015. Together, the approximately 20 workers in the plant stood together for better wages and benefits, as well as fair treatment and respect at work. The plant is an intermediate chemical manufacturing facility, supplying other manufacturers with the chemicals they need for industrial processes.
Workers at Pinova Solutions Ratify First Contract, Charter New Union Local
More than 100 workers at Pinova Solutions, in Brunswick, Ga., have ratified their first contract and become members of a newly-chartered International Chemical Workers Council of the UFCW local – Local 1050C. The plant manufactures specialty resins and rosins from naturally-occurring sources for worldwide distribution and has been in operation for more than 100 years.
After voting in their new union, the bargaining team won substantial improvements at their workplace, including pay raises, guaranteed benefits, fair processes for promotions, and protections from unfair termination or discipline. Their new contract was ratified on June 25, 2015.
