Workers at Tops Friendly Markets voted overwhelmingly this week to ratify a new three-year agreement. After months of negotiations, a new agreement was reached between Tops and UFCW Local 1.
The new agreement covers 13,000 Tops employees in Upstate New York and Northern Pennsylvania. UFCW Local 1 members will retain affordable healthcare benefits and the company has agreed to increase funding to pension funds. Members will also earn hourly wage increases each year of the three-year agreement. The UFCW Local 1 Scholarship Program will also continue, and will provide thousands of Tops’ employees and their dependents a scholarship over the next three years.
