On April 29, workers at the chain’s Bainbridge, Ohio, location cast ballots by card check to join UFCW Local 880. The 238 employees working in departments throughout the store voted to join the union for better wages, benefits, and job security. They join thousands of other Meijer grocery workers throughout the state who are represented by UFCW Local 880.

“I voted to join the union so we can get what we deserve in the workplace. The union is here to protect us and to make sure our voice is heard,” said Janet Morgan, Meijer employee and UFCW Local 880 member.
Dave Colapietro, UFCW Local 880 representative, added, “I’m looking forward to protecting our members’ voices at the Bainbridge location through unity and solidarity to ensure fairness for all.”
The new members will be covered by a preexisting Meijer contract negotiated with members at other Ohio locations.
In addition to this new unit, UFCW Local 880 represents Meijer workers at several locations across Ohio, including Austintown, Medina, Richmond Heights, Stow, Avon, Mentor, Brimfield, Lorain, Boardman, Seven Hills, Brunswick, Canton, Warren, Wooster, Alliance, and North Canton.
