Employees at the offices of Democratic candidate and former U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown secured a full contract last month after just seven hours of negotiations. The 30 workers, represented by UFCW Local 1059, voted unanimously to approve the deal which covers them through the end of the year.

Former Senator Sherrod Brown is a three-term Democrat who was unseated in 2024 and is running in a special election on November 3 to finish out the remainder of Vice President JD Vance’s term. The winner of that election will hold the position until the seat is up again in January 2029.
Wage and benefit improvements were the top issues for staffers, who work in Brown’s election finance, media, politics, and press departments, mostly out of the campaign’s Columbus, Ohio, office.
