Workers at two Minuteman Press locations in the Columbus, Ohio, area joined UFCW Local 1059 last month. The five new members work in the graphic design, customer service, and finishing/mail service departments. Two employees are at the Reynoldsburg location, and three are at the Westerville location.
Minuteman Press is a print and design franchise with more than 1,000 locations worldwide. Some of the independent stores are unionized, and the Columbus owner reached out to UFCW Local 1059 organizers about forming a union, hoping to increase business opportunities at his stores.
Mark Dersom, organizing director at UFCW Local 1059, said the team at Minuteman Press is looking forward to negotiating their first contract.
“These hard-working employees are excited to become union workers and get the benefits that come with a strong contract,” he said.
