Nearly 150 professionals at WellFort Community Health Services in Ontario’s Peel Region voted to join UFCW Locals 175 and 633 earlier this fall.
Nurses, personal support workers, team leads, office administrators, support staff, and other employees make up the bargaining unit, which is spread across two locations: Bramalea Community Health Centre and Four Corners Health Centre.
Members are seeking a more inclusive workplace, one that prioritizes equitable treatment and standardized processes.
“We are happy to welcome these professionals into the membership,” said UFCW Locals 175 and 633 President Kelly Tosato. “We stand strong with the healthcare workers at WellFort and look forward to negotiating a collective bargaining agreement.”
In addition to delivering medical services, the new members also provide health awareness and educational programming for illnesses such as diabetes, HIV, and hepatitis C.
