The 85 new members of UFCW Locals 175 and 633 work at Bayshore HealthCare Solutions in North York, Ontario, Canada, and provide in-home healthcare to patients with conditions such as cancer, dementia, rheumatoid arthritis, and diabetes.

“We welcome the healthcare workers of Bayshore to the union,” said UFCW Local 175 President Kelly Tosato. “Healthcare workers bring dignity and compassion to their clients’ lives every day, and those workers deserve better working conditions across the board. And as their union, we are here to support them in achieving that goal.”
The Bayshore workers reached out to organizers in pursuit of better job security, working conditions, wages, benefits, and health and safety, as well as greater respect. While the organizing drive had its challenges, the workers quickly gained support and were elated to see a victory.
The new members are looking forward to working to secure their first collective agreement as members of UFCW Local 175’s Health, Office, and Professional Employees (HOPE) Sector.
