On June 17, 74 members of UFCW Local 1473 who work at the Metro Market store in Menomonee Falls, Wis., ratified a new contract. Metro Market is a subsidiary of the Kroger Company.
The three-year contract, which was ratified unanimously, includes base wage increases of up to 22 percent for all contractual shift premiums, and a simplified wage scale allowing base wages to increase up to $1.50 per year of employment. In addition, there is no change to the members’ health care costs or coverage.
“I’m really proud of the bargaining committee and members at Metro Market for coming to the negotiation table knowing what they wanted and standing firm on what they needed,” said UFCW Local 1473 Union Representative Ian Marten. “This bargaining session brought some of the largest base wage increases our local has ever seen. Membership unanimously voted to ratify this agreement, showing the power of standing together as a union so that everyone gets a piece of the pie.”
