Local staff, UFCW cannabis members and worker leaders in active campaigns are invited to attend the quarterly National Cannabis Call sponsored by Cannabis Workers Rising on Sunday August 16 at 7 p.m. ET.
Field Assistant and Organizer Saul Guerrero said theme of this month’s virtual call is “Union Contract, What’s in it for Me?”
Organizers are hoping attendees leave the call knowing more about the job protections and economic improvements that come with a fair contract.
“We’re continuing the conversation to highlight the importance of organizing and recognizing what it takes to get a strong first collective bargaining agreement. We are envisioning this call to be focused on the two important things that come with a good contract: job protections, and higher wages and other economic improvements.”
Past National Cannabis Call themes include “Building a Stronger Union,” “Solidarity and Action When Building your Union,” and “Sticking Together to Bargain for Better.”
Local staffers are encouraged to reach out to current members, bargaining committees, and campaign workers to let them know about the hour-long meeting.

The UFCW International, through its Cannabis Workers Rising Campaign, along with UFCW Locals across the country, have organized nearly 12,000 members including more than 400 retail shops and at least 60 production / cultivation facilities.
