Over 1,800 members of UFCW Local 2 who work at Triumph Foods in St. Joseph, Mo., recently ratified a new contract that includes the largest wage increase in the company’s 15-year history.
The six-year contract includes a starting wage that is higher than the average wage of other regional meatpacking companies. The starting base wage is now $20 per hour for all production new hires, and includes a $1 per hour differential for employees working second and third shifts. All current production employees will also receive a minimum $2.75 per hour wage increase.
The contract also includes new benefits for our members, including a paid referral program and additional earned time off beginning in early 2022, as well as a newly created utility position with an added pay differential for anyone who holds it, and qualifying relocation assistance for new employees.
“Our union is thrilled that Triumph Foods has agreed to implement this significant wage increase,” said UFCW Local 2 President Martin Rosas. “This rate is almost 15 percent higher than current starting wages, which is an incredible investment in Triumph team members who work so hard to supply pork for consumers.”
