On August 8, approximately 200 members of UFCW Local 7 who work at Mission Foods in Pueblo, Colo., ratified a new three-year contract. Mission Foods is a subsidiary of Gruma Corporation, and members of Local 7 produce tortillas and other authentic Mexican products.
The new contract includes wage increases with retroactive pay going back to March 23, 2016. The contract also maintains healthcare benefits, and includes additional vacation leave, personal days and leave of absence for immigration purposes.
“Through the perseverance of the workers and the hard work of the negotiating committee, we were able to ratify an all gains, and no losses contract,” said UFCW Local 7 President Kim Cordova. “This contract includes the preservation of their health benefits, improved vacation and personal day language, and the ability to utilize vacation days for immigration leave.”
